AJP Action releases its first edition of Palestine Policy Memos Dear Email, Today, Americans for Justice in Palestine (AJP Action) released a congressional memo calling on members of Congress to condition US security assistance to the Palestinian Authority (PA) in respect of Palestinian human rights. This memo is the first of our “Palestine Policy Memos” where we’ll be releasing pieces on a variety of issues related to Palestine and Policy. |

AJP Action’s primary mission is to fiercely and unapologetically lobby for Palestinian rights, for Palestinians who are systematically oppressed by Israeli settler-colonialism, apartheid, and military occupation. The Palestinian people are denied their right to self-determination through Israel’s separate and unequal regime. Conversely, this memo doesn’t represent a shift in our focus. On the contrary, it’s an extension of it. We continue to demand US decision-makers hold Israel accountable for its crimes and violations of international and US laws. In addition, we continue to support legislation and policy that upholds and advances Palestinian rights, and we work to oppose legislation and policy that furthers Israeli oppression. This applies to any instrument that Israel uses to intensify its oppression and strengthen its occupation, even if that instrument is Palestinian by name. Since the establishment of the Palestinian Authority security forces in 1994, the United States and Israel have viewed it as an extension of their Israeli counterpart. The memo contextualizes this and offers recommendations to address the issue. The United States, which claims to be the beacon of democracy globally, is funding crimes against the Palestinian people committed by both Israel and the PA. It does so to aid Israel and destroy and nullify the remaining rights of Palestinians who yearn for freedom, justice, and equality. The Palestinian people need protection from a brutal military rule, not another layer of oppression under the disguise of PA security forces that serve the Israeli oppressor at the expense of its people and their aspirations. These crimes have long been committed with our taxpayer money, and we have a responsibility to protest them. Read our policy memo here, and thank you for your commitment to a Free Palestine. |
