Late Wednesday night, through an unsigned decision, the stolen Supreme Court effectively overturned Roe v. Wade by allowing Texas to move forward in enacting
the strictest anti-abortion law in the U.S.
— banning all abortion care as early as six weeks into pregnancy — before most people even know they are pregnant. This cruel and immoral law also allows private citizens to collect $10,000 “bounties” by suing abortion providers or anyone else who helps a person obtain an abortion.
John, I’ve been a reproductive rights advocate for 20 years. Everything I’ve spent my life fighting for is on the line right now. The handwriting is on the wall. This cowardly decision by the far-right extremists on the Supreme Court effectively nullifies Roe v. Wade, gutting our abortion rights with the most devastating impacts on people working to make ends meet: Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and young people seeking care.
The Supreme Court was intended to be the last line of defense against attacks on our fundamental rights. Instead, the stolen, hyper-partisan Court majority refuses to protect even our most basic human rights. But there is a solution: we can and must expand the Supreme Court.

Late last night, without a single word, the stolen Supreme Court effectively extinguished Roe v. Wade in the state of Texas and launched a full-fledged attack on reproductive rights in America.
This is a terrifying day for our country. Any state controlled by anti-abortion zealots now has a green light to follow suit. And for the third time in just over a week, the Court’s illegitimate conservative majority has made cruel, sweeping, unpopular policy from the bench without so much as holding a hearing.
This will continue to happen until we expand the Supreme Court. This is a matter of extreme urgency. We are done with performative tweets and statements in support of abortion rights from our leaders. We need our elected officials to move to restore balance to our judiciary NOW! Pledge your support for an expanded Court and urge our lawmakers to act immediately to protect our rights.

The Court’s conservative supermajority had already signaled they intended to ignore decades of precedent and dismantle abortion rights later this year, but apparently, even that short wait was too long, so they let Texas do it for them.
While Mitch McConnell, Donald Trump, and the six Republican politicians on the Supreme Court deserve the bulk of the blame for how far our judiciary branch has sunk, the truth is the refusal to act by the current Congress and administration has only emboldened this illegitimate Court.
Now, the cruelty of this heartless Court will force millions of people to live without necessary reproductive health care while putting millions more at risk. What more will it take for our leaders in Congress and the White House to act?
It’s time for our elected officials to take action — and for you to make it clear where you stand.
We need to get loud. Add your voice to the growing call to expand the Supreme Court today to protect and restore our hard-fought rights.
We knew this day was coming. We know what needs to be done. Until we do, the Supreme Court will continue to ride roughshod over our rights and our democracy. There’s absolutely no time left to wait. We must expand the Court.
