Welcome to our latest edition of our NAAC e-alert. Hope you're all keeping safe and well... after no doubt, a well deserved Summer break.?

We are pleased to announce that the NAAC Music & Dance Academy classes are restarting from Wednesday 8 September...finally giving a sense of 'Normality' returning! So, make sure you book to learn something new, have fun learning to dance, or keep fit with our Bollywood Zumba...and don't forget to let your friends and family know so that they can join in on the fun too!

Nottingham Asian Arts Association (NAAC) Music & Dance Academy aspires to promote and support South Asian Arts through arranging and promoting a wide range of workshops for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

The Academy is a centre of excellence with tutors who are of high calibre, professional and specialist with years of experience in delivering quality classes in vocal, music and dance.

So whether you want to keep fit with Bollywood Zumba, learn how to dance or learn a musical instrument for fun, as a hobby, or want to achieve and pass grades, we can tailor our music, vocal and dance tuition?to meet your needs.

Bhangra &amp; Dhol Event

On Saturday 4 October, we shall be grooving on the dance floor to Antonio Jhalli?s Bhangra DJ set over at Hindu Temple Nottingham. Our groups of Dhol drummers and bhangra dancers have worked so hard to learn and rehearse a set piece of music and dance. They'll be showcasing their new skills on the night, with their teachers right next to them. They'll smash it!?

Get ready for the 2021 Nottingham Mini Mela!

Save the date and join us for a weekend full of music, dance, poetry, family friendly events, storytelling, workshops, art, giant puppets and more!

From Friday 10 - Sunday 12 September, we'll be taking over the New Art Exchange building with artists, performers and you!

Come and take part, or simply watch and enjoy while trying something from our delicious desi menu specially created by the New Art Exchange Cafe.

As well as working with local schools, we'll be showcasing local creatives and talent. Whether you want a party atmosphere or to chill out with something more relaxing - we've got something for everyone.

Nottingham Global Roots Festival - Global Carnival

Join Nottingham Global Roots Festival for a unique celebration of music from all over the world.

?Global Carnival? is the festival?s theme for this year, and all artists reflect this theme perfectly, with each performance drawing on rich musical cultures.

Closing the event will be the award winning group, *The Dhol Foundation*, who combine intricate classic Indian music with exciting rhythms from around the globe.?

Also joining the ?Global Carnival? line-up is Gambian kora harpist and Griot, *Sefo Kanuteh* and his band. Sefo is an exquisite musician and will be showcasing his new album "Adouna", meaning ?world?. Whilst drawing upon traditional West African music, Sefo is also a pioneer in exploring new and innovative ways of presenting his music with a Western twist!?

The festival?s third act is Nottingham-based popular duo *KaBen*. The group combines aspects of jazz, soul, Latin and R&B to produce a sublime musical creation.?

Tickets for this event are free, thanks to support from Arts Council England. Please only reserve a place if you are certain to attend. In the event that tickets need to be cancelled, please email our Box Office on [email protected].

Volunteering Roles for South Asian Women???

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are creating more volunteer opportunities for South Asian females through their project Dream Big Desi Women. The role includes supporting and delivering this 8 week family-friendly cricket programme. You don?t need any cricket or sports coaching experience, just an unshakeable can-do attitude and a desire to be part of something special. Sessions will run at various centres, including cricket clubs, community centres and schools across Nottingham. If you are interested in helping children to learn, play, have fun and create memories that will last a lifetime then sign up today!

Volunteer alongside your children?s sessions or bring along your friends, gain some excellent experience to enhance your CV and have some FUN!
