Friend,
My colleagues and I, alongside millions of reproductive healthcare
advocates, have been warning about the threat to Roe v. Wade for
years. Last night, the Supreme Court took the first step towards
overturning it.
In the middle of the night, the conservatives on the Supreme Court
allowed the 6-week abortion ban law to go into effect in Texas, our
country’s second-most populous state.
This extreme GOP law makes no exception for rape. The law makes no
exception for incest. And the law includes an Orwellian bounty-hunting
scheme; people are financially incentivized to sue members of their
community who receive, or help someone else receive, an abortion.
Radical Republicans are turning to dystopian vigilantism and asking
friends and neighbors to report on each other, just like in communist
countries.
It's clear that we can't trust the Supreme Court to defend
reproductive rights, so we need to take bold action in Congress. I’m
working with my Democratic colleagues to protect the right to choose
in Texas and around the country.
But
it's only possible with a Democratic majority. That's why I'm asking
you to chip in today to help build our margins in 2022 -- I've said it
before, and I'll say it again, Roe v. Wade is on the ballot in our
upcoming elections.
Chip
In
When the Supreme Court -- and congressional Republicans -- support
extreme laws, we all need to step up for our communities. I'm
committed to fighting for reproductive justice in Congress, but I need
your help to make it possible.
Will
you do your part to elect leaders who will fight to protect everyone's
access to care?
Let’s get to work, Ted
