Dear MoveOn member,
The right-wing majority on the Supreme Court just defied nearly 50 years
of legal precedent and let a Texas law take effect that bans nearly all
abortions in the state.^1
In her dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor called it "stunning" that the
court had failed to block "a flagrantly unconstitutional law engineered to
prohibit women from exercising their constitutional rights."^2
The Texas law bans abortion as early as six weeks, before most people even
know they are pregnant, with no exceptions for sexual assault or incest.^3
Numerous other Republican states are poised to pass identical abortion
bans, now that the nation's highest court has let it stand.^4
And, in a matter of months, the Supreme Court will consider a Mississippi
abortion ban that could overturn the right to safe and legal abortion
across the United States.^5
John, the day is here: Reproductive freedom is gone in Texas
and hanging by a thread nationwide.
We must fight back. To show the world that we won't stop fighting for
abortion to be safe, legal, and accessible, MoveOn just printed a big
batch of these "Reproductive Freedom for All" stickers and is giving them
away for free—while supplies last.

In a free society, all people need to have the ability to determine their
future and what happens to their own bodies. All people need access to
free, comprehensive, and culturally literate health care including
abortion, no matter their race, age, or financial status.
The Texas abortion ban takes us back to the days before Roe v. Wade, when
people with resources—largely white, wealthy women—could travel out of
state for abortions, while Black women and other people of color were
forced to pursue dangerous back-alley abortions or carry unwanted
pregnancies to term.
We're here, in 2021, because of a decades-long, massively funded campaign
by the far right to pack the courts with anti-abortion ideologues. And
because Mitch McConnell upended Senate rules to ram through the Supreme
Court confirmations of Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.
We have to fight back, including by stopping Mitch McConnell from
regaining control of the Senate next year. McConnell has already said that
he will not allow a vote on any Biden Supreme Court nominee.^6 And control
of the 50-50 Senate is on a knife's edge.
