Folks,

Late last night, the Supreme Court functionally ended Roe v. Wade.

Their decision is wrong. It’s unconstitutional. And it puts at risk countless women’s lives.

It begins in Texas, where they’ve banned nearly all abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, before most women know they are even pregnant. And when I say they banned “nearly all,” I mean it. There are no exceptions for rape or incest.

Republicans have spent decades working to undermine women’s access to health care. Their efforts won yesterday when a conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court allowed the Texas ban to go into effect. Who lost? Women and every single one of us who believes in the right to privacy.

Like in so many areas, New Mexico has led the way in protecting women’s rights — recently repealing a law that criminalized doctors for providing abortions. But just like with voting rights, a woman’s constitutional rights should not stop and start at state lines. That’s why we must now protect reproductive rights through federal law.

The Supreme Court will take up another extreme case before the end of the year — a law that could ban abortions after 15 weeks in Mississippi. We must act quickly to protect Roe v. Wade before the Supreme Court deals a final blow.

Join me in demanding a federal law guaranteeing a woman’s right to reproductive health care: [[link removed]]

Thank you for speaking out. These are concerning times, but I won’t stop fighting for you.
