Friend,
Although Louisiana's economy has made great strides, women in our state only make 70 cents for every dollar a man makes. Simply put, it’s embarrassing that Louisiana continues to have the highest gender wage gap in the nation. When we don't pay women the same as their male counterparts, it harms our communities, our businesses and our families. That's why I supported equal pay legislation last session, and it's why I'll continue to fight for it if I am reelected.
But continuing to make progress depends on winning this runoff election in just a few weeks. My opponent has already spent millions trying to defeat me, and he's got millions more in special-interest and national GOP money on his side – and that means we need this grassroots team to fight back.
Closing the gender wage gap is one of my top priorities. But if we lose this runoff election, then all bets are off. With my opponent doubling down on his millions of dollars in attacks, I've set a goal to raise $12,000 by midnight. Missing our fundraising deadlines, at this stage in the campaign, isn't really an option. So I'm counting on you to come through:
Please rush $5 or more – whatever you can – to help us hit this midnight deadline so we can win reelection, fight to close the gender wage gap and keep Louisiana moving forward!
Thank you,
Governor John Bel Edwards
