Appeals Court Sends Hormel "Natural Choice" Deceptive Advertising Case To Trial
Hormel advertises its "Natural Choice" product line as natural. The truth is that these animals are raised in factory farms, never seeing the light of day, being given unnecessary antibiotics and other chemicals, and being abused, a 2019 Bloomberg report revealed. We're thrilled that this week, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals issued a decision reviving the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s case against Hormel Foods’ “Natural Choice” advertising and sending the matter to trial. Mexico Abandons No-Fishing Zone for Endangered Porpoise
 

Mexico has gone back on its word to protect the critically endangered vaquita marina, a species of porpoise who live in the upper Gulf of California. With less than 10 vaquitas left in existence, they are now one of the rarest marine mammals. Their home was previously a "zero tolerance" no-fishing zone, but Mexico has abandoned that policy after struggling to enforce it. Learn more about the tragic changes for vaquitas.

Berlin Drops 96% Of Meat From University Menus

This fall, four universities in Berlin will remove approximately 96 percent of all meat served at their combined 34 cafeterias across the city in a joint effort to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. In 2019, a survey of 14,000 students in Berlin found that 13.5 percent identified as vegan—a much higher proportion when compared to the general German population.
