Friend,

With just 12 days to go, about 1 in 4 voters have returned their Recall
ballots.(1)

If we are going to defeat the Recall, we need turnout to be a lot higher.
But so far, the messaging about the election is just not speaking to
younger generations and people of color.

Thanks to our coalition polling, however, we know that the following
messaging does work:

* A NO on the Recall vote is a vote for equity, justice, and
accountability.
* The Recall threatens the future of a progressive California.
* The Recall effort is based on division and disinformation.
* It’s up to us to reject the Recall and fight for a more progressive
state.

Our targeted social media effort to defeat the Recall is going viral, and
the more you donate, the more voters we can reach through Facebook,
Instagram, Twitter, and beyond.

Right now, the leading candidate to replace Governor Gavin Newsom is Fox
News commentator Larry Elder, who is best known for being anti-mask and
anti-vaccine, being critical of gun control, and believing that there is
no systemic racism in America.(2)

It is difficult to understate the damage that Elder could do to
California. But while more than 49% of Californians need to vote NO on the
Recall to defeat it, if they don’t, Elder would only need a small
percentage to become the next governor.

And the majority of people who have returned their ballots are older,
white voters.(3) We need young voters and people of color to be heard in
this election in a big way.

Courage California conducted statewide polling among the 18–29 age group
and found that only 43% were interested in the Recall -- 11% didn’t even
know a Recall election was taking place!(4)

That's why we partnered with ASO Communications and FrameShift, to produce
social media videos and memes to speak directly to these voters, so we can
engage them and ensure that they turn their NO ballots in. Now it’s up to
us to disseminate this content as widely as possible.
