SEPTEMBER 2021

Helping Hans: Young Goat Flees Slaughter and Finds Sanctuary

Hans was a young goat, roaming suburbia on his own—and he had every reason to be scared. He was worlds away from the comforts of a warm, clean barn and protection from his herd—likely an escapee from slaughter. And like the billions of farm animals killed for food each year, Hans did not want to die. Something had lit the fire in his belly, causing him to flee from the life he knew and now, he was worlds away from the comforts of a warm, clean barn and protection from his herd. But he was alive. Learn how this kid on the run found family at Sanctuary.

Learn what the FSRA includes—and what you can do to help.

Berkeley: The First U.S. City to Phase Out Animal Products

Change is happening! "Berkeley City Council has announced plans to decrease the animal-based food products it serves by 50 percent, and replace them with plant-based options by 2024. It’s part of the Californian’s city’s long-term goal of completely phasing out animal products." This move positively impacts summer camps, senior centers, public events, the jail, and more. Aligning Actions with Values: Gene Baur on the PLANTSTRONG Podcast

"When I've raised the issue of what happens to animals in the food system, people say, 'Don't tell me, I don't want to know.' ...We have to walk a very delicate balance between creating a situation where people will not put up a wall, but will instead be open to listening and learning and understanding." Tune in to hear Gene Baur, co-founder/president of Farm Sanctuary, on the Plantstrong podcast.
