John --

Last week, I took the debate stage for the first time and I made a commitment.

Mississippi is the only state in America that hasn’t passed an equal pay bill to require businesses to pay women and men equally for doing the same work. That’s shameful.

Mississippi needs a governor who will look out for all of our workers and their families. Chip in now if you agree that Mississippi women deserve equal pay.

Asked on the debate stage whether he supports equal pay for women, Tate Reeves said, “We’ll see what the legislature does. If they send us a bill, we’ll certainly take a look at it.” He’ll “take a look at it?" As lieutenant governor, Tate Reeves had ample opportunity to pass an equal pay law. Since 2016, Tate Reeves has had nine equal pay bills before him -- he killed them all.

In Mississippi, women who work full-time and year-round earn just 77 cents to every dollar earned by men -- that’s the seventh-largest wage gap in the country! And the gap is even larger for women of color.

Last week on the debate stage I made it clear where I stand on equal pay for women. I not only said I would support an equal pay bill, I hope it's the first bill I sign into law as governor.

Will you contribute today to support our commitment to making Mississippi a more equitable place?
