John, this headline sums up EVERYTHING that’s important about the work we’re doing here.
The officer in question is Christopher Taylor.
In 2019, Officer Taylor killed Mauris DeSilva — a man with mental health issues who was holding a knife. But the then-DA Margaret Moore refused to charge him.
Then, in 2020, he killed yet another man — Michael Ramos — who was unarmed and suspected of drug possession.
But this time, newly-elected José Garza charged him almost immediately. And then did what previous DAs refused to do and charged him AGAIN for the murder of Mauris DeSilva.
If it weren’t for DA José Garza — who WE helped elect together — Officer Christopher Taylor might still be wearing his badge. He may have even killed another man.
THAT is why I will always call what we do at Real Justice some of the most important work of my life.
The bottom line is — and I’ll say this over and over until my voice gives out — is that the work we’re all doing saves lives.
There are countless examples of the amount of damage that can be caused by a District Attorney who wields their immense power for evil. They wrongly imprison innocents and let cops get away with murder — literally.
And — slowly but surely — we are seeing countless examples of how much GOOD can be done when compassionate, principled DAs are elected instead.
Our opponents see and know this too. They’re throwing everything but the kitchen sink to slow us down.
I appreciate you,
Shaun
