Friend,
Roe v. Wade, the law of the land that protects the right to choose, is in danger.
Earlier this week, Texas passed an abortion ban, the nation’s most restrictive, which bans all abortion (including in cases of rape or incest) after six weeks. To put six weeks into perspective, most people do not yet know they’re pregnant at six weeks. This is an all-out and totally unconstitutional ban.
Which makes what happened late last night even more devastating. In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court is refusing to block the ban.
Roe v. Wade has never been more threatened than now. Will you stand up for Roe today, alongside me and the majority of Americans who support Roe and reproductive rights?
Do you support Roe v. Wade, my friend?
Access to health care shouldn’t depend on which state you live in.
Vermont currently has a proposed constitutional amendment (Prop 5) that, if passed by the legislature and voters in 2022, would guarantee reproductive rights to all Vermonters. I’m proud of the work Vermont is doing on this issue.
But the fact is that, even though Vermont and Texas could not be more different on this issue right now, Vermonters and Texans both deserve access to reproductive care. Where you live shouldn’t determine your access to safe and legal choices.
That’s why I am standing up for all Americans and standing up for Roe v. Wade. Will you join me? Add your name right now to show your support for Roe v. Wade and reproductive rights.
Thank you for voicing your support.
Sincerely,
Patrick Leahy
U.S. Senator
