John,

Last month, I wrote to you about the fifty-sixth anniversary of the Voting Rights Act — its successes, its limitations, and the ongoing attacks on democracy in our country.

I’m proud to share that since then, the House of Representatives has passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. This legislation is historic in its own right: should it pass the Senate successfully, it would revitalize the Voting Rights Act of 1965 by restoring key components of the bill that have been weakened since initial passage.

But here’s the bad news: not a single House Republican voted for this bill. So today, I’m reaching out to ask that you add your voice to this fight for our democracy. [[link removed]]

I’m working hard to make sure that my Republican colleagues hear me loud and clear: It’s time to reform our democracy. It’s critical that the Senate pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, but we can’t stop there: Congress needs to take action on eliminating dark money in politics, corruption in Washington, and expanding and protecting voting rights.

Will you join me by adding your name to demand that Congress prioritize democracy reform? [[link removed]]

Thanks for being part of this,
