Last night the Supreme Court's conservative majority overturned Roe v. Wade by refusing to intervene against the Texas law baning all abortions starting at SIX WEEKS - even in the case of rape or incest - and turns anti-choice zealots into bounty hunters, with the power to track down and sue anyone suspected of being involved in an abortion after six weeks.

For all of the Republican's claims to be "pro-life" they continue to kill thousands of our fellow Americans by railing against life saving measure like mask mandates and vaccines against the still-raging pandemic - including in Texas. In Texas, they legalized handgun ownership without a license or any training.

And following in goose step with their idol Donald Trump's 10 month-old bogus claims of voter fraud (which inspired the insurrection of January 6th), Republicans passed one of the most restrictive, racist voter supression bills in the country .

Texas is a vision of the future of our country under Republican control.

The Republican party at the local, state, and federal level have made it clear: they will do anything, including destroying our democracy , in the pursuit of power. I do not say this lightly, but our House and Senate majorities are the only thing standing between our democracy and a descent into right-wing autocracy.

I am not exaggerating when I say that the horrible laws we see in Texas could be enacted nationwide if we lose in 2022.
