John,

I thought today I would be sending you an email thanking you for helping us hit our end of month fundraising goal (which we did and thank you!) Instead, we have to talk about the Texas abortion law the Supreme Court declined to block this week, one of the most restrictive bans on abortion this country has ever seen. This law will effectively deny millions of women and pregnant people their right to choose.

I am thinking of the millions of Texans who have lost access to essential health care. I am thinking about everyone who will be turned away from clinics, scared about what this will mean for their future, for their families, and for their wellbeing.

And I am thinking about my own experience, when I was a college student and had just found out I was pregnant -- still in school and feeling incredibly unprepared to have a baby. In that fearful and uncertain time, I exerted my constitutional right to choose -- a choice everyone deserves.

I am grateful for my decision to have my oldest daughter, but at that moment I would not have wanted to be told what I must do, either way. I'm infuriated that this new law will take that choice away from so many. Six weeks is not enough time to get past initial denial and shock, let alone make an informed choice. It's simply not enough time to consult with a doctor about what your options even are.

For everyone in Texas, and beyond, who is scared today, who is angry today -- I see you and I am fighting right alongside you until this despicable law is repealed and every single woman has access to the health care they need and deserve.
