John, the Gulf Coast needs our help.
Last Sunday, southern states like Louisiana and Mississippi were hit with sustained 150 mph winds. The storms have caused damage, flooding, power and gas shortages, and carbon monoxide poisonings all across the region. We've been holding the communities that have been impacted close to our hearts as they navigate the aftermath of this destruction.
Officials are saying it will be weeks until power is restored in New Orleans, and even longer for the impacted communities to fully recover from the catastrophic damage from the storms.
There's no doubt that this disaster — along with fires happening on the west coast and the climate catastrophes we've recently witnessed — make passing a Green New Deal and transformative energy policy even more urgent. But right now, we must focus on making sure that folks in the Gulf Coast are safe and accounted for.
So, please chip in $3 or whatever you're able to towards relief efforts in Louisiana and Mississippi, John. 100% of the proceeds raised will be split evenly between these five organizations providing on-the-ground relief:
