Your Voice, Your Vote!

Our democracy is rooted in the sanctity of voting and the idea that we the people have the right to choose our leaders. Attacks on the right to vote and the security of our elections are attacks on our democratic system itself. To strengthen our democracy and ensure true representation for our communities, we must protect the right to vote and secure our elections.

Proposed New Congressional District: The Southern Colorado River Basins (SCRB)
As voting nears we must remember that redistricting must be done in the best of ALL Coloradans. This means proper representation for southern Colorado. We need a voice for Hispanic voters, the agriculture community, and protections for our water!

"The citizens of the SCRB region share common geography, history, culture, and economy that support a cohesive community of interest. This area stretches from the southwest to the southeast corners of the state, including the San Luis and Arkansas Valleys, the southeastern plains, Pueblo, and the southern area of El Paso County. All counties in the district are contiguous, partisanly balanced, with a population of 724,582 based on the most recent census data."

September 2021 is not only National Suicide Prevention Month, but Sept. 5-11 is National Suicide Prevention Week, and Sept. 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day.

"There is an average of 123 suicides each day in this country, the 10th leading cause of death in America — second-leading for ages 25-34, and third-leading for ages 15-24. In order to create awareness and strengthen the fight against suicide, the entire month, the week, and the day, are devoted to the prevention of suicide, spreading awareness of its causes, and offering resources to those who are in crisis and contemplating suicide." Colorado has set record temperatures for August 2021.

Upper level high pressure across western portions of area through much of the month of August kept more westerly flow in place and limited the amount of subtropical moisture moving into the region. This was especially true for eastern portions of Colorado, where very warm and dry weather, along with smoky and hazy conditions (from Northwestern US wildfires), was the rule for much of month. For the month of August as a whole, above to well above normal temperatures were experienced across south-central and southeast Colorado, save for pockets of at to below normal temperatures across south central Colorado. As for precipitation, below to well below normal conditions were recorded across the area, save for pockets of near normal precipitation.

The following graphics depict monthly temperature and precipitation departures from normal across the state for the past month of August.
