Imagine you’re Kurdish. You and your family have been fighting alongside US troops on the frontlines against the Islamic State. And then, thousands of miles away, Trump gets on the phone with Turkish President Erdogan, and hands your family a death sentence.

Turkey immediately begins bombing with, in a cruel twist of fate, American-made weapons and ammunitions.

That’s what’s happening right now in northern Syria. Trump turned America’s back to the Kurds, allowing Turkey to attack with American-made weapons. But you have a chance to make a difference here. Congress – the people you elected and who are paid by your tax dollars – can stop the sale of weapons and ammunitions to Turkey if people like you speak up and demand it.

Tell Congress: stop selling weapons to Turkey immediately.

There’s no easy solutions at the northern border of Syria – Trump made sure of that. But abandoning our good faith partners put the Kurdish people in an even more dangerous position. Especially given that Turkey is eager to wage its brutal war with American-made weapons.

We can’t go back in time to last week and stop Trump from making a horrific decision in Syria. But we can do something else. We can make sure that Turkish forces determined to attack the Kurdish people aren’t doing so with US weapons.

That’s why it’s so important to send a clear message to your members of Congress. As constituents, they have to listen to you. You can provide the crucial voice to save the Kurds from the deadly situation Trump put them in.
