The news out of Texas this morning is unconscionable. The state legislature banned ALL abortions after 6 weeks — before almost any woman knows she's pregnant. When the second largest state in America virtually bans abortion, it's a crisis.

This abortion ban is so harsh and extreme that it doesn’t just punish abortion providers. Anyone who assists someone in accessing abortion can be penalized. That means Texans who help pay for an abortion or even drive someone to an abortion clinic can be sued — whether they’re a friend, a spouse, or even a ride-share driver.

This ruling will disproportionately affect low-income women and women of color, who already face greater challenges accessing reproductive health services, and sets an extremely dangerous precedent that Republican-led states across the country are already copying.
