** She bloomed. She bounced back. She is ready.
------------------------------------------------------------
"We always end each summer with an eye toward the future and the excitement that lies ahead as our girls go back to school. But it’s also important to consider the joys and bumps in the road we experienced together. My heart is full of gratitude for our staff, volunteers, guest speakers, participants, and particularly for our camp parents who have entrusted their daughters to us. As I reflect on the past 6 weeks, the Girl Power Song we sing daily at camp comes to mind. All I can think is... That’s Girl Power!" - Sister Angela Patton, CEO, Girls For A Change

** Girl Ambassador Program
------------------------------------------------------------
After months of professional development and digital skills workshops,
Girl Ambassador Participants were placed in summer internships with companies all over Richmond and beyond. Many of our girls experienced first-hand what remote work was like, working with companies in Florida, California, Hampton Roads, and New York while others got to experience hybrid experiences or fully in-person.

In spite of all we had to bear this year, we are proud that these girls made the program a priority, spending valuable time learning, and working hard for their employers. We have no doubt these girls will achieve greatness. One of them left the program with her Microsoft certification completed and many left with college scholarships. That’s Girl Power!

** Thank you to our 2021 Hiring Partners
------------------------------------------------------------
"I have enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere at the museum, meeting new friends + Networking opportunities, Seeing the different roles and hard work that goes into the museum and events, working on social media marketing, learning about marking in general, helping out with the camps, being able to shine my creative light on projects and ideas, learning how to present myself confidently in a workplace, talking to such a wide range of people... and so much more."

- Madison Wright (VMFA intern)

** Camp Diva Leadership Academy
------------------------------------------------------------

We created, learned, laughed, got moving, and invited some awe-inspiring women to our space this year. From making jewelry to gardening, sisterhood circles to podcasting, coding lessons to jump rope sessions, the summer was filled with opportunities for self-discovery, self-expression, and creativity.

The magical thing about Camp Diva is that it’s more than a place where we spend the summer. It’s a community to which girls belong all year round. Just as camp friends stay in touch throughout the school year, the lessons learned at Camp Diva become part of who we are and we build a village to support each other. That’s Girl Power!
A few highlights from Camp Diva this year include field trips to VMFA, The Science Museum, and Sankofa Farms; meeting and creating with all of the women from our 'Women to Watch" series; our BLKRVA tour of Richmond; learning about personal style from Johnathan Copland of Target and then going on a shopping spree for our annual photoshoot; and of course Market Day - a huge success thanks to our community!

** Funding the future
------------------------------------------------------------
Black girls, destined for greatness. We are so proud to share that six girls from our programs will be receiving scholarships this summer!
That's girl power.

** Frontpage news
------------------------------------------------------------
Camp Diva Market Day and the Girl Ambassador Program both made the front-page of the Richmond Times-Dispatch this year! That's TWO stories dedicated to the importance of lifting up and supporting Black girls.
That's girl power!
