We’ve never seen an investment in our communities like this before, John.

President Biden proposed $5 billion to fund Community Violence Intervention (CVI) programs to combat gun violence in America. This historic investment would ensure local, on-the-ground organizations have the resources they need to prevent gun violence through an evidence-based, public health approach.

Now, Congress has the chance to ensure this funding is approved. But lawmakers in Washington need to hear from you: Will you urge your lawmakers to include $5 billion for CVI funding in the Build Back Better Act? [[link removed]]

SEND A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS! [[link removed]]We know this investment in our communities will save lives.
Thanks to years of steadfast advocacy from frontline community members and Black and Brown leaders, we know just how effective this investment can be as a public health approach to reduce gun death and injury. CVI models establish partnerships between community members and community leaders to offer critical social services — like GED tutoring, mental health counseling, housing support — helping provide new opportunities and break cycles of gun violence.

CVI models are already being employed and have proven effective: In Richmond, California, gun homicides reduced 71% between 2007 and 2016. We can do the same nationally, John. But we can only do it with your help. President Biden’s proposed funding would allow respected community members and organizations to offer critical social services to communities across the country. It would help rebuild the relationships between residents and law enforcement.

Please, urge your lawmakers right now to approve and maintain this historic funding for our communities! [[link removed]]

In solidarity,
Team Brady
