John, this morning, I -- like my many parents and grandparents across Maine in recent days -- saw my two granddaughters off to their first day of school this year.
Seeing the smiles on their faces and the excitement in their eyes inspired joy and a renewed sense of hope in my heart. It's for them -- and your kids and grandkids -- that I fight so hard every day to build a better Maine.
Whether it's making historic investments in Maine's schools, expanding broadband to ensure that every Maine student can access high-speed internet from their home, or fighting climate change so that years from now our kids can still enjoy the state we all love, I am working every day to build a better, stronger Maine -- one where our children can grow up happy and healthy, where they can get a world-class education, and where they have the opportunity to get a good-paying job, start a business, and raise a family.
We've still got plenty of work to do, especially as we continue to turn back this deadly pandemic, but, with your help, together we will continue our fight to ensure that our kids and grandkids have every opportunity to succeed in Maine.
Thank you for putting your trust in me. Let’s continue to build a better future for all Mainers.
Governor Janet Mills
