John, what’s happening right now in Texas should terrify us. Overnight, the Texas legislature implemented severe restrictions on abortion, essentially ending Roe v. Wade protections in the state.

It’s outrageous, and it’s exactly what Glenn Youngkin has in mind when he was caught on tape admitting that he wants to go 'on offense' and ban abortion in the Commonwealth.

Let me be clear: whether it’s Youngkin in Virginia or Republicans in Texas, these extreme restrictions put people's health and lives at risk. It’s wrong for Virginia. It’s wrong for our country and I promise you I’m going to fight like hell to stop it.

We've seen these extreme right-wing attacks on reproductive health in Virginia before, and as governor I fought back against every single one. I kept reproductive health clinics open when extreme right wing Republicans like Glenn tried to force them to close, and I vetoed every bill that aimed to restrict reproductive rights — including multiple efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.

As I have been before, I will always be a brick wall against any attacks on reproductive rights in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
