I have spent the last decade in the Senate championing abortion rights and reproductive health care. And I’ve never—never—been more concerned about the future of Roe v. Wade .
Let me explain. At the stroke of midnight, a new law in Texas went into effect that bans abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy. That’s before many women even know they are pregnant. The law makes no exceptions for rape or incest.
That’s not all. The law offers $10,000 to any private citizen who successfully sues anyone helping a woman obtain an abortion—that could include health care providers, religious leaders who simply counsel a woman about her reproductive rights, or even an Uber driver who transports a woman to a heath care facility.
I asked my team to put together a petition calling on Congress to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act. Simply put, it’s our best way to fight the restrictive anti-choice bills sweeping the country.
Please, take a moment to sign my petition. I would like to reach at least 15,000 signatures today to make it crystal clear that we won’t stand by while anti-choice politicians chip away at reproductive freedom.

Now is not the time to despair. It’s time to fight with everything we have.
Sincerely,
Kirsten
