Multinational energy company Enbridge is dangerously close to finalizing its massive Line 3 pipeline, which is slated to carry dirty tar sands oil from Canada to Wisconsin, through Indigenous land and across critical waterways.
In Minnesota alone, the pipeline would pass through sixty-eight lakes and rivers. Leaks would devastate both the surrounding area and communities across the Midwest. The pipeline also violates the treaty rights of the Anishinaabe people by endangering primary areas of hunting, fishing, and wild rice, along with cultural resources.
As if endangering the people and waterways in its path isn't bad enough, the project also puts our climate at greater risk by locking us into decades more of fossil fuel use — decades we don't have left to squander if we hope to keep a livable climate.
The Biden administration has the ability to step in, revoke Enbridge's water permit, and halt this terrible project.Take action to demand that it does.
You might be wondering why we're asking you to send a message to stop a pipeline that may be thousands of miles away from you. The communities on the ground in Minnesota and across the Midwest whose health and safety are on the line are asking for us to stand with them. We know exactly what the oil and gas industry is capable of, and we need to be in this together. Stand with Indigenous communities and allies across the country to stop Line 3.
Our frontline allies have been fighting this project for years, and they've built incredible, tenacious opposition, despite facing violence and arrest. But Enbridge was still able to ram through key approvals to move the project forward.
That's why we need you to join with us — and ally organizations across the country — in taking action today. This pipeline is not a done deal until oil starts flowing. The best chance we have to stop this pipeline is to pressure President Biden and his administration to walk the talk on climate by halting Line 3 to protect communities and the planet. The Biden administration can — and must — stop this unjust, reckless project from going online.
Pipelines like Line 3 would tie us to a dirty fossil fuel future, effectively locking in climate chaos. We have a short window of opportunity to take bold action on climate before it's too late. We can't afford to drag our feet or allow dirty energy corporations to run roughshod over communities and ruin our chance for a better future — all to line shareholder pockets while the world burns.
Each new pipeline, compressor station, power plant, export facility, fracking operation and drilling site fuels climate change. Each new project locks us into decades of pollution, and ultimately climate disaster. That's why President Biden and his administration need to do better. They need to stop Line 3.
Onward together,
