Dear John,

On October 27, 2018, a gunman entered the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh and killed 11 congregants. It was the deadliest day of antisemitism in American history.

On the Shabbat following the Pittsburgh attack, countless Jews and people of all faiths and backgrounds participated in AJC’s #ShowUpForShabbat initiative, filling synagogues across America and around the world in what was described as the largest expression of support for the Jewish community ever.

Together, we stood up to hate, built bridges of understanding, and showed the power of unity.

This coming Shabbat, one year after the tragedy, Jews and our allies will again #ShowUpForShabbat to gather, remember, and act.

Will you join them?

On Shabbat, October 25-26, we ask you to do three things:

Show up: Attend Shabbat services at a local synagogue and share your plans on social media using the hashtag #ShowUpForShabbat. If you don’t usually attend services, visit AJC.org/ShowUpForShabbat [link removed] for guidance on which synagogues will be welcoming guests in your area.

Urge others to join you and help us grow this global movement. Invite your family and friends to come with you to Shabbat services and help spread the word on social media.

Go to AJC.org/AddYourName [link removed] and lend your voice in support of this important initiative.

Let the world know that you are not afraid.

Together, we can turn a global campaign of solidarity into a powerful force against hate.

We’re asking you to join us. Will you #ShowUpForShabbat?
