Overnight, Texas enacted one of the strictest abortion laws in the country.
Because the Supreme Court didn't act on emergency requests to stop the bill from going into effect, Texans will no longer be able to get an abortion after six weeks -- before most people even know if they are pregnant. And, citizens can now bring civil suits against doctors, healthcare providers, and anyone who helps someone get an abortion.
Banning abortions will not end abortions -- it will end safe abortions. And laws like these disproportionately impact people of color and other marginalized communities.
We cannot stand idly by while more and more states restrict abortion access. If the Supreme Court is not going to act, we cannot stop raising our voices. The Senate must take action to protect Roe v. Wade, but I need a massive show of grassroots support.
