John,
The second-largest state in the country effectively banned abortion today. Let's be clear -- what's happening in Texas is not just an attack on women, it's an attack on reproductive rights everywhere.
This new Texas law bans abortion after six weeks, which is before most people even know they're pregnant. We won't go back.
Here's the deal though, I need your help. I'm fighting hard to pass the Women's Health Protection Act, but the anti-choice movement is strong in their opposition.
We've got two far-right Republican opponents planning a run in IL-03 who want to turn back the clock just like Texas did. And we know their ultimate goal is to overturn Roe v. Wade and ban abortion at the federal level -- we can't let that happen.
This is not a false alarm. This is gravely serious and we need to keep this seat.
Can you chip in today so I can keep fighting for reproductive rights in Congress?
Republicans in Texas have enacted a cruel and unjust law that will disproportionately hurt communities of color and people in rural areas, but they're not the only state that has done this.
We can not let the anti-choice movement restrict reproductive care, and we can't let Republicans pick up any seats in the House or Senate.
Can you chip in to keep a strong fighter for abortion access in Congress?
Thank you for being in this fight with us. The anti-choice movement is a very vocal minority, and despite this setback in Texas, know that Democrats will keep fighting every day to protect abortion at the federal level.
We won't go back.
