Last night, the Supreme Court allowed Texas Senate Bill 8, the most
extreme abortion ban in the country, to go into effect. Today, abortions
are banned after six weeks across the state. That’s before many people
even know they are pregnant.

This radical, cruel, and dangerous law cuts off access to almost all
abortions for millions of people in Texas. But it also has massive
implications for the future of Roe v. Wade and millions of additional
Americans across the country because one in four women have had an
abortion — and I am one of them.

SB 8 is NOT about health care. Extreme laws like this are
about controlling and punishing women and pregnant people — eroding their
Constitutional rights while disproportionately harming low-income people
and people of color.

Congress must immediately act to remove barriers to care and defend the
right to choose — because reproductive rights are human rights. [ [link removed] ]Can
you split a contribution of $3 or any amount between our
campaign and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund today to help us defend
reproductive rights in the weeks and months to come?

I know firsthand what a profoundly personal choice getting an abortion is
and the importance of an individual’s right to decide whether or not to
have one for themselves — regardless of income or zip code.

For me, terminating a pregnancy was not an easy choice, but it was my
choice. That is the single thing that has allowed me to live with the
consequences of my decisions. And that is what we must preserve for every
person.

So, where do we begin? Well, Congress can start with passing the Women’s
Health Protection Act that I helped to introduce to create a safeguard
against abortion bans and medically unnecessary restrictions. Then, we
have to defend our Senate majority so that Mitch McConnell doesn’t control
which justices get on the Supreme Court.

[ [link removed] ]I really do believe our collective organizing and activism can hold
the line for reproductive freedom in this country. We have to. If you can
afford it at this time, will you chip in a split contribution of
$3 or more between our campaign and the Planned Parenthood
Action Fund today?

In solidarity,

Pramila
