Overnight, the most restrictive abortion ban in the country went into effect in Texas after the Supreme Court failed to issue an injunction.
Let me be clear about one thing: I’m not ashamed to stand up for the right to choose, and overturning Roe v. Wade would put lives at risk and limit access to care. It’s now up to us to defend the right to choose.
This attack on reproductive freedom in Texas is just the beginning -- but I continue to stand with everyone who fights for reproductive rights, especially in the face of extreme laws.
With the Supreme Court’s inaction, it’s up to us now to take action. I’m asking you to sign my petition to show that we’re standing strong with the people of Texas to defend our collective reproductive freedoms.
The government -- state or federal -- should never come between a person and their health care provider. As Governor, I will continue to protect every person’s right to autonomy over their own body and ensure that people everywhere have full control of their health care choices.
These are difficult times, but I’m ready to face our challenges head-on. We must protect access to safe, legal abortion.
