Did you see the news out of Texas? Today, a ban on abortions after 6-weeks goes into effect... and it can be enforced by private citizens to get a $10,000 bounty. This is not alarmist, it is reality.

Many people don’t even know they’re pregnant six weeks into pregnancy. And this ban takes it to the extreme: The law is set up not to be enforced by state officials, but by private citizens -- meaning anyone can sue abortion providers or anyone involved in helping someone get an abortion.

John, this is something the Supreme Court could have stopped. But Amy Coney Barrett’s appointment solidified that the Court is set as an anti-choice majority for a generation now.

You’ve heard us say it before and we will say it again: Elections have consequences. This bill originated in the Texas state legislature, was signed into law by their anti-choice governor, and the Supreme Court -- filled by Trump -- did not take action so the law went into effect.

This is why we can’t start working early enough for 2022, when all of the seats in the Minnesota state legislature will be up for election. There is a lot of work ahead of us. We -- pro-choice advocates -- are the majority, but right now we are getting out-organized.
