Tragically, 13 U.S. Servicemembers died in the terrorist attack on August 26th at the Kabul Airport. May God bless their families, and may they know that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted.
Our weak Commander-In-Chief invited bad actors to attack those donning the stars and stripes, a symbol that has long been known throughout the world to stand for freedom and strength. The Biden regime’s lack of leadership has fueled terrorists to grow in strength and numbers.
I have formally called on Joe Biden, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley to resign for their negligence which led to the deaths of 13 American service members in Afghanistan.

Forest management is a pillar of rural communities here in Colorado. I was grateful that Ranking Member of the House Committee on Natural Resources Bruce Westerman drove through the night to join me at Montrose Forest Products to discuss the importance of our timber industry and actively managing our forests. Montrose Forest Products is a prime example of forest management success, and since 2012, it has invested over $42 million into the mill and our local economy.
Beetle-killed trees are dangerous for firefighters, since they provide highly combustible kindling. In order to mitigate the risk of catastrophic fires, beetle-killed trees need to be removed and processed at mills like Montrose Forest Products before they rot and twist.
We discussed my Active Forest Management, Wildfire Prevention, and Community Protection Act, which will support the lumber industry, remove beetle-killed trees, responsibly manage our forests, prevent wildfires, improve the environment, and boost rural economies.

From the beginning, I’ve been working with federal, state, regional, and local officials to get I-70 fully reopened and fully repaired as quickly as possible. The bipartisan and bicameral Colorado congressional delegation secured $11.6 million in initial emergency funding from the Department of Transportation, and we anticipate more support to come in after the governor makes his request for a federal emergency declaration.
I am also leading the bipartisan Colorado House of Representatives delegation in a draft letter calling on President Biden to approve Governor Polis’ request for a federal Stafford disaster declaration once that request is made.
I sat down with Glenwood Springs Mayor Jonathan Godes and local and regional stakeholders to develop a game plan for the future, and we discussed my American Infrastructure Modernization (AIM) Act, which would build new roads and improve existing interstates without increasing taxes or federal spending.
With the recent closure of Interstate 70, I’ve worked with local and state officials to identify and improve possible alternative routes in the event of a future I-70 closure. I toured Cottonwood Pass, and I am continuing to coordinate with regional officials on exploring several proposals.

Joe Biden’s energy leasing moratorium devastated rural communities by killing jobs and reducing important funding for things like firefighting and law enforcement. Despite these challenges, De Beque Fire and Rescue is doing a phenomenal job keeping our community safe. I am working to secure resources for rural firefighters without raising taxes with my MORE PILT Act and my Active Forest Management Wildfire Prevention, and Community Protection Act.

Serving on the House Committee on Natural Resources, it is my top priority to ensure we are good stewards of our land. I met with the Bureau of Land Management to discuss active forest management and the importance of their multiple-use mandate. The path forward is clear: we need to be proactive, not reactive when managing our lands, water supply, energy, natural resources, and forests.
|
Colorado’s economic backbone is natural resource companies like Ouray Silver Mines. The Ouray Mine has created hundreds of jobs and contributed millions of dollars to our local economy. I’m very proud of the work Ouray Silver is doing here in Colorado, and its silver production is critical for electronics, cell phones, and more.

I joined the Forest Service near the Morgan Creek Fire to discuss the ongoing effort to control this incident as well as improve forest health within the region. We discussed my Active Forest Management, Wildfire Prevention, and Community Protection Act, which will prevent wildfires by removing combustible beetle-killed trees, actively managing our forests, and increasing funding for rural firefighting while reducing the national debt.
|
I met with the Routt County Commissioners to discuss ways we can work together to support rural Colorado. We talked about re-opening I-70, wildfire prevention, forest health, and supporting rural economies.
|
Dispatchers are the forgotten men and women that keep our communities safe. From medical emergencies to violent crimes, dispatchers are the first to gather clues about an incident and initiate a response. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to meet Routt County’s finest. Thank you for your service, and may God bless you all.

CBS Denver, ‘On Behalf Of A Grateful Nation’: Colorado Representative Shares Condolences With Rylee McCollum’s Mother
“Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert shared a letter to Rylee’s mother, Kathy, who lives in Montrose, expressing her condolences: ‘Kathy, on behalf of a grateful nation, we mourn with you for the loss of your son.’”
Aspen Daily News, Lauren Boebert: Forestry legislation aims to fund firefighting efforts, protect homes
“My legislation empowers forestry experts to make real scientific improvements to our forests. It’s time to chart a new path in forest management that’s guided by science, protects rural communities, benefits the environment, and actively manages our forests to prevent catastrophic wildfires.”
The Journal, Boebert is hard-working, common-sense legislator
“Lauren is one of the most hard-working, common-sense individuals in public office that I have seen…[her] Active Forest Management, Wildlife Prevention and Community Protection Act, is a good and necessary piece of legislation as it will begin to return forest management to an active, rather than passive, state.”
American Military News, GOP lawmakers demand Biden’s resignation after 13 US troops killed in Kabul attack
“Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) also called for others to resign beyond Biden. Boebert initially tweeted, ‘It’s time for Joe Biden to resign,’ before adding, ‘Kamala and [House Speaker Nancy Pelosi] can follow him out the door.’”
Craig Press, Boebert’s legislation speaks for itself
“If you would like an unfiltered look at what Boebert has been doing for you, you can look directly at her legislation. Read The Western Water Security Act, or the Secure the Southern Border Act. Dig, and find things like her opposition to tree spikers leading the BLM, or watch her passionate speeches for her district on the House floor. In doing so, you will form a more complete picture of, not only the woman we sent to Congress, but your local community issues as well.”
