John,
What do ExxonMobil, Pfizer and Walt Disney Company have in common? None want to pay their fair share in taxes.
This month, the House will vote on a once-in-a-generation $3.5 trillion package to invest in healthcare affordability, jobs, the environment, housing, schools, nutrition and more. But with corporate lobbyists and at least 11 corporate Democrats in the House seeking to limit the size of President Biden’s investments and the revenue raised from multinational corporations to pay for them, none of these investments are guaranteed.
Every dollar of revenue not raised from the rich and corporations is a dollar not invested in children, families and working people.
We’re rallying our allies across the country to demand Congress go big and bold―to raise the full $3.5 trillion in revenue from the rich and corporations so we can make critical investments in our future.
We have just a few weeks before the House is expected to vote. Can you donate today to raise the urgent funds needed for this massive organizing effort?
According to The Washington Post, “among the most active [opponents of the $3.5 trillion budget] is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce” which is launching “traditional lobbying on Capitol Hill as well as advertising campaigns targeting Democratic lawmakers.”[1]
Moderates in the Senate have already signaled that they will only vote for a budget that is fully paid for. So, every tax loophole and giveaway Corporate America is successful in maintaining will result in cuts to our key priorities benefiting working people.
While moderates have been happy to criticize the price tag of the ten-year $3.5 trillion budget, none have said what they’d be willing to cut. Will it be the Child Tax Credit expansion, which has helped cut childhood poverty by nearly 50%? Or will it be Medicare expansion, which includes dental, hearing and vision care?
Donate today to fight back against this massive corporate lobbying effort! Together, we’re demanding Congress raise the full $3.5 trillion from the rich and corporations to invest in working families and our future.
