In 2017, it was Shelly Simonds versus Republican incumbent, David Yancey.

After all the ballots were counted, the two tied. Yancey only won because his name was drawn out of a bowl.

But Shelly’s district was racially gerrymandered, causing split precincts and mass voter confusion.

But now Virginia has new, FAIR maps. So we’re determined to help Shelly defeat her Republican opponent, and win the seat she deserves! Rush a donation to help Shelly’s Democratic campaign →

In 2017, Shelly’s name wasn’t drawn out of the bowl. Since then, the GOP- majority in the House of Delegates failed to pass any legislation on:

  • Gun safety,
  • Minimum wage,
  • The Equal Rights Amendment,
  • Firefighters getting workers compensation for cancer,
  • Clean energy,
  • And more.

These are issues Shelly is still fighting for today.

So if you care about ANY (or all!) of these issues, we need you to stand with Shelly today. Chip in $5 or $10 to her campaign right now:

Let America Vote is committed to creating political consequences for politicians who make it harder to vote. Our boots-on-the-ground teams in Nevada, Tennessee, Iowa, Georgia and New Hampshire knock doors and talk to voters every day to help elect voting-rights champions. This year we've already knocked on 200,000 doors -- and we're nowhere close to slowing down.

This message was sent to [email protected] because you are a vital part of our team. We're able to protect access to the ballot box because of grassroots supporters like yourself. Since we started knocking doors last year in Virginia, we've received more than 90,000 online contributions -- and our average donation is $24.

We can't win the argument over voting rights alone, that's where you come in. If you'd like to join our fight to protect voting rights with a grassroots donation, please click here. Together we can create political consequences for vote suppressors.
