7 vegan dog food brands to howl for

Dogs can eat healthy and tasty vegan diets, just like us. Dogs are omnivores, which means their gut enzymes allow them to digest a variety of foods – same as humans. Contrary to what many believe, dogs don’t need meat in their diets physiologically and can thrive on vegan dog food as long as you make sure they’re getting required nutrients and protein. We’ve compiled a list of some of our canine friends’ favorite vegan options to help you pick out the best fit for you and your dog.

The Jungle, revisited

More than a century has passed since Upton Sinclair’s tell-all novel, The Jungle, sparked public outrage at the corruption of the meatpacking industry. The work of fiction exposed the very real horrors faced by migrant workers and farmed animals at the hands of a company that prioritized profit whatever the cost.

Bravo Packing is a perfect example of just this. In June this year, Animal Outlook went undercover at the family-run dog and exotic animal food producer’s New Jersey facility, where cows have been “cruelly slaughtered… in filthy, deplorable conditions for over a decade.” Read more from our friends at Sentient Media.

The case of the suffering salmon

Animal Outlook’s Senior Director of Litigation Piper Hoffman sat down with the Animal Law Podcast to discuss Animal Outlook v Cooke Aquaculture, a consumer protection case brought in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia that alleges deceptive advertising about the welfare of fish, specifically the salmon in Cooke’s aquaculture facilities. Listen to the episode here.

The best part? One hundred percent of proceeds go toward enabling Animal Outlook’s advocacy for farmed animals.

Another exciting element to our partnership is our sponsorship of the Green Body Brand VegFest, powered by Plantarion. This FREE event will take place on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Washington, DC’s Union Square from 11 am – 6 pm ET.
