John, I’m not going to mince words: If the Republican recall succeeds in California, it would be an unmitigated disaster, especially for the Latinx community. Our team at Voto Latino has a plan to fight back -- but we need your help to get it done.

This is going to be a long email, so if you’re already on board, please chip in now to help us protect progress in California and stop a far-right takeover.

First, let’s talk about the stakes.

Here’s the worst-case scenario: If the GOP’s campaign to recall Governor Newsom is successful, he could be replaced by far-right Trump loyalist Larry Elder.

Elder is a conservative radio shock-jock and a major threat to the Latinx community. He’s pledged to reverse sanctuary laws, rip away healthcare from undocumented people, and even END birthright citizenship! We can’t let an extreme, fringe candidate take over our country’s most populous state -- chip in to help us stop Larry Elder.

Now, let’s look at the crisis.

Here’s the worst part of the worst-case scenario: Recent polls show the Republican recall within striking distance of succeeding, largely because of projected low turnout.

Experts predict turnout could be particularly low in Latinx communities, in part because they’ve been disproportionately impacted by COVID. We can’t let Republicans take over California by exploiting low turnout in hard-hit communities -- chip in to help us fight back.

We have a plan to win -- but we’re running out of time and we’re short on resources.

To fight back, we’ve identified 1.8 million Latinos who are at risk of not voting in the recall, and we’re investing $1 million into reaching them and turning them out to the polls.

But even though this is a huge investment, it’s only enough to reach about 55% of the voters we need to mobilize! Every dollar we raise between now and September 14 helps us reach the rest of them.

At Voto Latino, we have a proven track record of getting Latinos mobilized -- our efforts were instrumental in flipping both Arizona and Georgia blue in 2020. With the right support, we know we can repeat our success in California and stop this impending disaster.

Friend, the only things preventing us from executing our winning strategy in California are time and money.

We can’t do anything to get more time -- no matter what, the recall vote is two weeks away. But with more resources, we can double down on our efforts, reach more of the 1.8 million Latinos we’ve identified, and get them out to vote.

The clock is ticking -- please, pitch in whatever you can to help us maximize Latinx turnout in California and STOP the far-right plan to take over the state:
