At the start of the year, grassroots activists and engaged citizens like you helped us stop HR 1, an unprecedented federal takeover of election law. Now, we need your help to stop a second bill that would do the same thing: removing state sovereignty and replacing it with federal control of all election law.
Earlier this month, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, 219-212. The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on the bill soon, and your urgent action is needed to help uphold election integrity.
If passed, H.R. 4 would do the following:
- Centralize election control under the federal government
-
Transfer Constitutional (Article 1, Section 4) state oversight power to unelected bureaucrats in Washington
- Increases taxpayer costs by requiring city, county, and state legal petitions to seek federal permission for minor changes to election policy, including moving polling locations
- Give unelected Department of Justice officials the power to arbitrarily veto local election decisions without any just cause
- Unconstitutionally expand the federal government’s ability to reject commonsense voting reforms enacted at the state level, such as requiring voter ID
- Require automatic and same-day voter registration
- Prohibit certain voter-roll purges, making qualified voter roll lists more susceptible to fraud
If we lose the security and integrity of our election process, our representative, constitutional Republic will also be lost. Please contact your U.S. Senator today about this bill.
