[1]Bowman for Congress
John,
On a classically hot and humid Saturday morning, I joined the March On for
Voting Rights in Washington, D.C. on the 58th anniversary of the March on
Washington and Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

It's a shame that 58 years after the original March on Washington, we're
all still fighting for the same things: racial and social justice in our
nation.
But here is the difference: our voting power and collective momentum have
already broken down the barriers that have kept progressive leaders out of
Congress for far too long. Representatives like me — a Black educator from
New York City — are living proof that our votes and our voices really do
matter in our government. What we do with our collective power right now
is crucial in the fight to defend our rights.
Congress must work for the people, not the other way around. In the coming
weeks, it's on us to continue speaking up as voters to the Senate in
support of abolishing the filibuster and passing the For the People Act
and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
Congress will continue to remain an institution that upholds white
supremacy unless we relentlessly exercise our collective power. Without
our powerful presence, the Senate — and those who act in favor of
predatory political groups and corporate PACs — will continue to work for
the corporate interests that influence our government and disenfranchise
our communities.
We need to build a Black-led multiracial coalition across the country in
solidarity with our indigenous, Latino, Asian and Arab brothers and
sisters, with family and friends across this country who believe in
building peace and reconciliation. This is our moment for transformative,
revolutionary change that's rooted in human rights, but the only way we're
going to get there is by working together.
John, while I
continue our fight for progress in Congress, our campaign is working to
build up this progressive coalition each and every day. It's so important
that we have the resources, tools, and bright minds needed to continue
amplifying and advocating for our communities' needs.

help us reach our end-of-month fundraising goal for August, so we can keep
pace with our campaign's plans for the future. We're less than 10% away
from reaching our $20,000 goal and any contribution of any amount will
help make a massive impact on closing this gap.
