While Congress was in recess for most of the month, our work only picked up steam in August. Here are just some of the accomplishments our immigrant youth-led movement achieved. We:
- Fought for the inclusion of a pathway to citizenship in the Senate’s budget resolution which passed through reconciliation — despite anti-immigrant attacks from bad-faith Republicans;
- And ensured those protections for DACA recipients, TPS holders, farmworkers, essential workers, and immigrant youth stayed in that same bill as it went through a House vote, even as conservative Democrats threatened to derail the legislation.
- On top of that, our Undeniable Squad of volunteers texted 60k voters in Arizona, Nevada, and Texas, and hosted 10 in-person and virtual actions across the country — from Boston to Santa Cruz.
We achieved all this and more thanks to the grassroots team that has fueled our efforts — but our fight isn’t over, and we refuse to slow down until our demands are met and the leaders we helped elect fulfill their promises.
With more tough battles looming ahead of us as we close in on securing a pathway to citizenship, we can’t take our foot of the gas — and we’ll need resources to keep standing up against anti-immigrant attacks and holding Democrats in Washington accountable.
