Hi Friend,

Tomorrow, September 1, some of Texas Republicans’ worst recent laws are taking effect. I know many of us have been following this closely and are bracing ourselves for the impact -- so I wanted to reach out and let you know I’m thinking of you.

Friend, I’m not going to sugarcoat it: the laws taking effect tomorrow are a stain on our state. From slashing our abortion rights, to outlawing education on racism and sexism, to stripping us of our most basic gun safety laws, Republicans will stop at nothing to enact their radical, right-wing agenda -- at the expense of the lives, health, and safety of Texans.

But Friend, here’s the thing. These attacks are happening for one single, simple reason: Texas Republicans are terrified -- of you and me and the power of our movement. And when tomorrow comes -- dark as it is -- we are the ones who are fighting back. At the end of the day, to put a stop to these egregious Republican attacks, it’s up to us to lead the charge to vote them out of office. And whether it’s organizing Democrats in every county or registering up to 2 million new voters, we’re doing everything we can to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2022 and bring Greg Abbott’s reign of terror to an end.

Right now, we’re in the fight of our lives to protect our healthcare, our safety, and our education from Texas Republicans. And we need your help. Can we count on you to chip in $7 or whatever you can to make sure these shameful laws are among the last ones Greg Abbott will ever sign?

I know being a Texas Democrat isn't always easy. But it’s times like these that remind us why we keep fighting. We’re fighting for our right to healthcare -- including abortion. We’re fighting for an end to the scourge of gun violence in our state. We’re fighting so that Texas kids can grow up not just learning about our world, but gaining the tools they need to make it better. And I know that if we stand united in this fight, we will get there.

We’re playing the long game. Let’s keep going.
