Dear Friend,

ALIGN is proud to be honoring Assembly Member Karines Reyes and Senator Michael Gianaris, Stuart Appelbaum, and Dr. Lara Skinner at our upcoming 2021 Movement Builder Awards for their leadership in building movements for economic, racial, and climate justice.

RSVP here to join us on Tuesday, September 21 in celebrating our 2021 honorees and the past two years of movement building in the face of crisis!

Assembly Member Karines Reyes and Senator Michael Gianaris fought alongside frontline workers to win the first-in-the-nation NY HERO Act in May 2021. As bill co-sponsors, they have championed public health and workers’ rights to ensure that New York State has permanent, enforceable health and safety standards to reduce the spread of airborne infectious diseases like COVID-19 at work and that New York’s workers have a stronger voice in the workplace.

Stuart Appelbaum is a committed fighter and champion for all working people. As President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, an Executive Vice-President of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, a Vice-President of the national AFL-CIO, and countless other roles, Stuart has reined in corporations and built power with workers across industries.

Dr. Lara Skinner, Director of the Worker Institute’s Labor Leading on Climate Initiative, Cornell ILR, has been a tireless advocate for the movement for a just transition to a renewable energy economy. She serves on the Just Transition Working Group to support the implementation of New York state’s national leading climate law, and her research and training programs have helped union leaders and members engage in climate protection and clean energy.

After the challenges of the past year, we are thrilled to be able to unite with our friends and allies once again to celebrate the movement builders fighting for economic, climate, and racial justice.
