John—

On September 1, one of the most dangerous and draconian abortion bans in the entire country, SB 8, is set to take effect in Texas, but your state could be next. This law bans abortion care as early as six weeks of pregnancy before many people even know they are pregnant, puts a bounty on the heads of those helping pregnant people seek abortion care, and could provide a blueprint for other states to ban abortion.

This is not a drill. Reproductive freedom is under attack — not only in Texas — but across the country. We must fight back against SB 8 and other copycat bans that could be coming.

Join us virtually on September 1 for a Day of Action to fight back against these attacks on our fundamental freedoms and show our solidarity with the Texas Freedom Network and activists on the ground by engaging on social media.

If you have a Facebook account, change your cover photo to this frame here and share your support! Here are a few examples of the kind of messages you could post, but make sure to add your own unique voice!

  1. Texas today, our state tomorrow. If allowed to go into effect, people in TX are going to experience an extreme abortion ban starting September 1 — but that won’t be the end. This ban, #SB8, will be the blueprint for bans across the country. Unless we do something about it.
  2. It’s pretty simple: We should all be able to make our own decisions about our health and future. But between TX’s extreme abortion ban and other states passing a record number of abortion restrictions this year, we have to fight for reproductive freedom for every body.
  3. The newest TX abortion ban, #SB8, gives anti-choice activists, neighbors, and even strangers the right to sue those who provide — or just help patients access — abortion care after about 6 wks. They won’t stop with TX. If we don’t fight back, we could see similar restrictions across the country. #BansOffOurBodies

This is our chance to show our lawmakers that we — the 77% of Americans who support the legal right to abortion — will not be silent as our rights are threatened by anti-choice extremists trying to chip away at Roe v. Wade.

The Texas law is one of more than 90 abortion restrictions passed across the country this year alone. Make no mistake: Anti-choice extremists are paying close attention to Texas to see if they can use SB 8 as a blueprint to roll back abortion access all across the country.

Join us virtually and show solidarity for our partners on the ground defending abortion access in Texas by engaging on social media.

Thanks for all you do for reproductive freedom,

Team NARAL
