BUT NOW: Joe Biden is appealing the court decision, fighting to maintain the pause on oil and gas leasing in public lands and waters.

As the Interior Department appeals the federal court decision, it is also implementing new policies to ensure its current leasing program and royalty rates “adequately incorporate consideration of climate impacts.”
