John — Under the former president and his administration, Big Energy had the run of public lands and waters for drilling and exploration. Now that’s changed.FIRST: The Biden Administration took the bold step of implementing a pause on oil and gas leasing on public lands and in public waters.
THEN: A federal court decision to blocked the pause, clearing the way for drilling rights to be auctioned away again.
BUT NOW: Joe Biden is appealing the court decision, fighting to maintain the pause on oil and gas leasing in public lands and waters.
John — The new administration is stepping up to protect our environment and combat the effects of climate change.
Simply put, this is why it is crucial we have SEEC members in Congress who have the president’s back. While Republicans are screaming on behalf of fossil fuel donors, President Biden is taking action that will make a meaningful difference to our climate. As the Interior Department appeals the federal court decision, it is also implementing new policies to ensure its current leasing program and royalty rates “adequately incorporate consideration of climate impacts.”
It’s a huge step forward. But with Congress and the Biden Administration working together to combat climate change, we’re making progress.
That’s why we’re asking you to step up today with a donation to help elect more SEEC members of Congress who will fight for these policies alongside the Biden Administration. [[link removed]]
Thanks for stepping up.
