I didn’t run for the United States Senate in 2020 for myself.

I ran for the people of Minnesota — for the activists who inspired a movement for justice across all 50 states. For the farmers who make up the backbone of our agricultural economy. For the healthcare workers, small business owners, and educators who help our communities not only function but thrive every single day.

It was an easy choice to run for Senator, even though we faced a slew of unprecedented and difficult challenges. In my heart, I knew Minnesota deserved bold, progressive leadership in the Senate.

Since I’ve taken office, I’ve held true to my campaign promise from day one: Fight for all Minnesotans.

Throughout my time in the Senate, I’ve worked hard to pass forward-thinking solutions that address major structural problems in our country. From fighting to increase mental healthcare coverage to advocating for transformative clean energy policies, I’m committed to passing legislation that builds a better future.

But, let’s be clear: there’s still more work to do.

We need to take action to address the climate crisis, expand affordable healthcare, reestablish voting rights, and confront inequality and injustice. And to do that, we need to protect and expand our Democratic majorities in the midterm elections.

Just two years of Democratic majorities in the House and the Senate and President Biden in the White House aren’t enough to fix every one of our nation’s problems — especially if Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy are able to take back power and reverse our progress from the last eight months.

The GOP is waging a nationwide campaign of implementing voter suppression laws and gerrymandering districts to win key elections in 2022. Not to mention, they’re outraising Democrats every single day.
