Right-wing billionaire and Donald Trump's former secretary of education, Betsy DeVos, is coming to New Hampshire tomorrow to rally Trump's far-right base. She is just one of the many Trump allies trying to unseat me and flip the Senate red.
During Betsy DeVos' confirmation hearing for secretary of education back in 2017, she demonstrated a complete lack of understanding and support for the public education system – and it was clear that she was unqualified to serve as secretary of education. At her confirmation hearing, I specifically questioned Ms. DeVos on whether she would enforce the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Not only did she refuse to say she would, but she also demonstrated that she was unaware that this landmark civil rights law was a federal law.
Unfortunately, she didn’t improve upon that disastrous confirmation hearing during her tenure in the Trump administration – pursuing policies that undermined public schools in New Hampshire and across the country. From proposed funding cuts to her efforts to implement a voucher system, DeVos ignored the needs of both educators and students in an attempt to dismantle our public education system.
I’m writing today because it has been my honor to represent New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate, and I’m not done fighting for a more robust public education system. I only won my last election by 1,017 votes, and New Hampshire’s State Senate and State House both flipped from blue to red last year. Republicans know this, and DeVos' upcoming visit is a clear attempt to unseat me by rallying Trump's far-right base. If we lose in New Hampshire, Democrats have no chance of holding our narrow majority.

Having Donald Trump and his allies fully invested in this race is bad news. I hate asking for money, but my campaign is falling behind our monthly goal, and we need the funds to fight back against Republican attacks. Will you please split $5 between my campaign and Jeanne’s to help us win in New Hampshire and protect our vulnerable Senate majority?

I'm fighting to give New Hampshire families a brighter future by strengthening public education, expanding the Child Tax Credit, protecting health care and more. But there's still much work ahead – and if Republicans regain control of the Senate, they will undo all of the progress we've made so far.

Thank you so much.
