Governor Kim Reynolds is ripping local control away from communities across Iowa.

First, she took $95 million in federal funding meant for our schools and sent it back to the federal government, leaving school districts without additional funding to address this ongoing pandemic.

Second, she signed a bill into law that makes it easier for private charter schools to form without input from local school districts.

Then, she banned school districts and local governments from requiring masks to keep our kids and their teachers safe.

Ras knows that not all communities across Iowa are the same, so we can’t approach our problems with one-size-fits-all answers. Not every county is the same. Jasper County is different from Black Hawk County, is different from Ringgold County, and so on.

Iowa has a heritage of self-sufficiency and home rule, and Ras believes our government should empower our communities to have local control, not take it away like Gov. Reynolds has.

If you want to see Iowa return to its roots with a governor who emphasizes local control and lets the people lead the way, pitch in $10 or more to support Ras ahead of our end-of-month fundraising deadline tomorrow.
