Property Tax Relief

I have been fighting against skyrocketing property taxes since 2003 — even before I was an elected official, and I continued this fight when I began serving in the Texas Senate. As Lt. Governor, the fight against higher property taxes is one of my top priorities, and I have continued my commitment to providing property tax relief for Texans.

Yesterday, the Texas Senate passed our two Property Tax Reform bills, and they are now headed to Governor Abbott's desk. These bills will save Texas homeowners $100 million over the next two years. If the Texas House Democrats didn't break quorum, the savings for homeowners could have been higher.

Texans are demanding lower property taxes. The Texas Senate heard their call, and we passed this critical legislation. I am proud we took this step forward in providing relief for Texas homeowners.

I am committed to making sure taxpayers keep more of their own hard-earned money. Property tax relief is one way to do that, and I will continue doing everything I can to cut taxes for all Texans.
