The 2021 PFLAG Chapter Awards

We're excited to announce that we will once again honor PFLAG chapters with PFLAG National Chapter Awards at We Are the Change: The 2021 PFLAG National Convention. This year's all-virtual event will take place Friday, October 22-Sunday, October 24.

This year, we want to honor chapters that made a difference during this difficult moment -- those who showed up and did the work their communities needed to make life better for LGBTQ+ people and their families, via virtual and digital resources, including PFLAG Connects virtual meetings.

We want to hear from you: Which chapter helped make a difference for you in the last two years? The PFLAG National staff will review all nominations and select winners from your submissions. The nominating process is open until 5pm ET on Friday, September 10th.

Three Steps to Being a Better Workplace Ally

With Labor Day coming up next week, it’s more relevant than ever to talk about building safe and inclusive workplaces. We’ve got some great digital resources to keep you covered.

1. Learn: Check out straightforequality.org/workplace to learn more about PFLAG National’s efforts to create more inclusive workplace cultures for people who identify as LGBTQ+.
2. Watch:  Be sure to tune in to our September 2nd Something To Talk About Live! about the LGBTQ+ Wealth Gap. Check out another episode about the importance of brands being LGBTQ+ inclusive to help your workplace keep LGBTQ+ people in mind. Take a look at our PFLAG Academy Online session about the Equality Act to learn more about the legislation’s impact on workplaces.
3. Share: Connect with PFLAG National/Straight For Equality on social media to stay up to date with our work. Use your own social media accounts to uplift brands and workplaces that are doing great LGBTQ+ inclusive work year-round.

Broadway in Action: A Virtual House Party for LGBTQ+ Rights

Join us Wednesday, September 1 at 7:30pm ET / 4:30pm PT for a virtual house party with special Broadway stars to support the Equality Act. Join Kevin Smith Kirkwood (Kinky Boots; 25th Annual...Spelling Bee), Lisa Kron (Fun Home), Sarah Beth Pfeifer (The Lightning Thief) and co-host Michael Buchanan (Cry-Baby; Addams Family) for a fun, Broadway inspired night full of performances, prizes and opportunities for you to take simple, direct actions in real time to support LGBTQ+ rights.
