A Note From Our CEO, Kanika Bahl

This month I am excited to share with you the voices and faces that make up the core of Evidence Action’s missionour people. Our impact is achieved through the hard work of a diverse, global team of passionate individuals numbering nearly 400 across eight countriesKenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Uganda, India, Pakistan, and the United States. 



This video is a celebration of their voices, capturing the incredible spirit of the people that make Evidence Action a place where people believe strongly in the impact of their work, and in the mission and values that we share. Our vision is a world where hundreds of millions of people in the poorest places have better opportunities and their lives are measurably improved.  

I hope you enjoy hearing about our efforts to accomplish this both from our staff and from the individuals we serve. I also extend my gratitude for your support that makes it possible for each of our staff to convert their passion into results for the world’s poorest.

Members of our team Mark Minnery and Chrispin Owaga are among the co-authors of this article. This study uses program treatment and infection data to understand the efficacy of the school-based deworming program in Kenya, with a view toward helping determine a strategy to accelerate achievement of the program’s goalto eliminate STH as a public health problem among children. 

How foreign aid for medicine yields big economic returns (LA Times)

In this op-ed, Edward Miguel, founder and faculty director of the Center for Effective Global Action at U.C. Berkeley and co-author of key deworming research, makes the case for investing in prevention of neglected tropical diseases, including deworming treatments, for high-yield returns in both health and economic outcomes.

This coverage highlighted remarks made by Nse Akpan, National Coordinator of NTDs Elimination Programme in Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Health, citing Evidence Action as a partner in the strengthening of health systems in the country.

Since 2019, Intizar has been a key member of our Deworm the World Initiative team in Pakistan. His work has been vital in helping to increase the number of children who are being dewormed across the country.
